The last Passion Play in Croydon took place on Good Friday 2016.
Churches from Croydon brought a powerful reminder of the Easter story through their procession through the town last Easter.
Thirty churches attended the Walk of witness and four stations of the cross were re-enacted on one of the three processions. The crucifixion took place on the stage. The two Bishops of Croydon were present (Anglican and Catholic) along with the URC South East Moderator.
Photos below show the walk through Croydon shopping centre of the Croydon Passion. Roger Jones playwright with the Sun and the Crucifixion scenes are based on Isaiah and the New Testament. A choir walks ahead of the crucifixion and the Passion is shown in mime and tableaux with the procession. See more photos here.
