The Hornchurch Passion Play is a community-based charity that spreads the Christian message in Havering. With an army of volunteers, our focus is the production of a ‘Passion Play’ every five years in Hornchurch, performing the Easter story live for up to 10,000 people over three nights. Our first performance was in 1995, and we’ve grown steadily since then and are now preparing for our seventh performance, scheduled for Easter 2026.

The Hornchurch Passion Play is produced every four to five years on the Green outside the Queen’s Theatre. 

For each production we need actors, musicians (including singers), stage crew, stewards, first-aiders, prayer supporters and many more volunteers to enable the project to work properly.

During the interim years, we run numerous other social performance-based events to fundraise towards the high costs of putting on the professional level of production that the audience of the HPP has come to expect.
