Chester Mystery Plays

Once every five years the people of Chester create a completely new production of the greatest story ever told.
Don’t miss the epic theatrical spectacular – the Chester Mystery Plays staged in the stunning nave of Chester Cathedral. Biblical tales of love, death, betrayal and redemption performed by a cast of hundreds.
John Young (Romeo & Juliet – Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre 2022) will direct the 2023 Plays, with Chester’s own Matt Baker composing and directing the music.
Performances every day Monday to Saturday, from Wednesday 28 June to Saturday 15 July, with a matinee each Saturday.
Off-peak prices Monday to Friday 28 June – Sunday 7 July.
Children under 16 – £5 for all performances, when accompanied by a paying adult.
