The Passion of Jesus will take place on Good Friday in Hamilton, starting at Castle Street.
The Passion of Jesus is a 90-minute performance, it is produced by agreement and with the permission of Wintershall.
This will be the fourth Passion Play to take place in Hamilton. It provides an amazing opportunity to see the Easter story take to the streets. The play will be performed at the bottom cross, Castle Street (near Asda) supported by the Church of Scotland’s GoForIt fund
Drama Kirk is a Fresh Expression of Church, which brings the gospel to life through drama. Seeing things portrayed and being a part of a dramatisation of scripture takes us a stage beyond Bible readings. It helps to deepen our understanding and heighten our emotional journey. The company is led by husband and wife team Ross and Liz Blackman. Ross is now a parish minister but was previously a time-served joiner and so manages the technical aspects of productions. Liz is a professional actor turned minister’s wife, and she produces and directs the Passion Play in Hamilton.
We draw the majority of our wonderful community company from our local churches, with cast members ranging in age from 3 to 83. Some come with a great deal of experience of drama, others with none – all come willing to take the gospel message into the heart of their local community. Furthermore, Drama Kirk is looking forward to the opportunity to work with the experienced team at Wintershall to improve the quality of what they produce and welcome learning from the experts. The same play, performed at the same time throughout the country? That will indeed be One Good Friday!
Drama Kirk is part of Hamilton Old Parish Church, Registered charity SC010855
